Kenyan international Jentrix Shikangwa scored a hat-trick to help her side Fatih Karagumruk SK defeat İlkadim Yabancilar Women 6-0 in the Turkish Premier League.
The former Vihiga Queens forward joined the Istanbul side in January 2022 and Wednesday’s game at Vefa Stadium was her first for the side.
The Harambee starlet scored her first goal after 13 minutes, the second coming at half-time. She scored her hat trick in the 68th minute to help the team to a huge win in their bid to win the league this season.
After their last victory, Karagumruk came out on top with Adana Idmanyurd with 21 points each. The latter have played nine games, one more than the former. They have won six and drawn three, scoring 19 goals and conceding eight.
The stats are almost similar for the Shikangwa team with the only difference being games played, 10, winning six, drawing three and losing one. They have also scored 19 goals and conceded eight.
Shikangwa’s form is a confidence boost for the Harambee Starlets who are in camp hoping to play against the crested cranes in the 2022 Women’s Africa Cup of Nations final qualifier.
CAF recently let Uganda know they qualified after FKF ousting through former CEO Barry Otieno who said he was unable to oversee the game successfully.
The decision is being challenged by the Football Federation of Kenya Interim Committee, the Cabinet Secretary for the Ministry of Sports, Ambassador Amina Mohamed, saying they have appealed the decision.
The crested cranes are currently not in residential camp for the match after the communication from the Caf.
The first leg was scheduled for February 17 and the second scheduled for five days later.
So far, the North Africans of Morocco have qualified as hosts with 10 more positions up for grabs. The semi-finalists will also travel to the FIFA Women’s World Cup.
