Tom Brady denounces NFL jersey number rule: “Dumb”

Tom Brady is not a fan of the new NFL rule that allows players to change their jersey number based on their position.

The Buccaneers star quarterback expressed his frustration with the rule in an Instagram story on Thursday.

“Good luck trying to block the right people now [!!!!] gonna do a lot of bad football, ”he wrote.

On Wednesday, NFL owners adopted a proposal, originally made by the Chiefs, to ease restrictions on the numbers available to players in the skill position – with the main change to be in the skill position, linebackers and defensive backs can now choose single digit numbers. .

The new structure allows defensive backs to choose any jersey number from 1 to 49, while running backs, full-backs, tight ends, half-backs and wide receivers can choose between 1-49. and 80-89. Linebackers, meanwhile, can now wear numbers 1-59 and 90-99.

While Brady’s No.12 jersey number will not change – due to the exemption of quarterbacks, punters, kickers and offensive and defensive linemen – he is clearly concerned about players having difficulty identifying the positions.

Tom Brady took to Instagram about the new NFL jersey number rules.
@ tombrady / Instagram

“Why not let the linemen wear what they want too?” ” he wrote. “Why have numbers? Just have colored jerseys… why not wear the same number?… DUMB.

Quarterbacks, bettors and kickers should always wear the numbers 1-19, offensive linemen could still choose from numbers 50-79 and defensive linemen could still choose between 50-79 and 90-99 .

Following the news, the NFL said expanded training teams, due to COVID-19, resulted in jersey number issues for some clubs last season, prompting the Chiefs’ proposal.

It is likely that there will be more reactions to come.

According to a long-standing NFL rule, if a player wishes to change their number, they will have to buy back the existing inventory from jersey distributors. Players wishing to suspend a number exchange and wait until next season to change would not have to fork out any money.

When the rule was in the early stages of development this month, Bills star Stefon Diggs is committed not to change his jersey n ° 14, so fans don’t have to “spend their hard earned money” to support it.

Bill collector Stefon Diggs has no plans to change his number.

While it’s inevitable that some NFL players will sport different looks this season or next, the revised shirt number rule could dramatically increase sales of shirts, among other merchandise.

The NFL’s revised rule approval came just weeks after owners voted to extend the regular season to 17 games.

Chiefs propose to change NFL jersey number rule

Earlier this week, the NFL announced that league owners would vote on 13 rule or rule changes that could go into effect as early as the 2021 season. One of those rule changes is a proposal from the Kansas City Chiefs to change the NFL jersey number rule, allowing players in skill position to wear single-digit numbers. If this change is implemented, it could have a major widespread effect on fans, teams, players and even television networks.

If and once implemented, skill position players will be able to wear any number 1-49. It also allows non-quarterback offensive position players to wear the numbers 80-89. Finally, it would also allow linebackers to wear numbers in the 90s. Here’s how the rule change would play out if implemented.

That being said, here are my top three players who should have worn single digit numbers in the NFL:

  1. Deion Sanders: Sanders was probably the most electric player in the league when he played. Sanders wore number two while playing for Florida State. If this rule had been implemented, then Sanders would have absolutely worn the same number in the NFL.
  2. Tyreek Hill: The Chiefs are the team that proposed this rule change, so Tyreek Hill must have said something. I can just imagine Hill blowing through a number one defensive back. It would look faster with a single digit number, if possible.
  3. Devin Hester: Hester is the best comeback man I’ve seen in my life. He amassed over 11,000 return yards and hit twenty times. He would be fuzzy wearing number four like he did in college.

As the NFL prepares for its first all-black team of officials, referee Barry Anderson says it’s time to pay tribute

Barry Anderson has an impossible job of making sure the best athletes obey the rules of America’s most watched game, but never be part of the game itself. When he does his job well, you won’t notice it, but sometimes conflict is inevitable.

However, this Monday evening, he will inevitably take center stage.

“This is a historic moment,” said Barry Anderson, NFL official.

For the first time in the league’s 100-year history, Anderson will be an all-black crew referee in an NFL game. An opportunity some would use to say hello, but instead he uses it to say thank you.

“This is my opportunity to pay tribute to the many black officials who paved the way for my presence here today,” Anderson said. “Many you’ve never heard of like Steve Daniels, Marshall Arnold, Dr. Moses Norman, Johnny Grier, Chad Brown and Byron Boston to name a few. For me, this is the opportunity to say thank you.

His gratitude doesn’t stop with the people who helped and inspired him along the way, but extends to the game itself. When asked to reflect on what football means to him, Barry revealed how the game is woven into the fabric of his life. This has been at the center of so many positive results for him and his family.

“As a 17-year-old, North Carolina State University empowered me to get a four-year athletic scholarship and ultimately my college degree,” Anderson said. “My three sons played football when they were young. My oldest son had the option of playing college baseball while my second son chose college football over college baseball. My youngest, he is expected to start his college football career in the fall of 2021. In February of this year, I had the honor of officiating Super Bowl 54.

Football is family-friendly. Barry ended up refereeing, but his brother-in-law Bobby Hamilton played 13, winning two Super Bowl rings with the New England Patriots. His cousin Steve Wallace had a 12-year career and was a three-time Super Bowl champion with the San Francisco 49ers.

When asked to sum up the game, he said it best by telling us, “When I think of football,” Anderson said. “Football is my life. It’s been my life and it’s been a hell of a good life.

To think that we have COVID-19 to thank for this historic event. The NFL typically assembles its 17 teams of officials before the season and tries to keep them together as much as possible in order to improve communication and familiarity among members.

Due to the novel coronavirus pandemic, the league has broken with tradition this season and brought the crew together on a geographic basis, to allow referees and officials to drive to matches instead of flying.

Monday night kickoff between the Los Angeles Rams and the Tampa Bay Buccaneers is set for 8:15 p.m.

Erin Andrews Launches Second NFL Women’s Clothing Collection, Including New Chargers Items

Last season veteran FOX Sports reporter Erin Andrews launched an NFL women’s clothing line called WEAR by Erin Andrews and spoke with Hayley Elwood on Playmakers about the debut.

Since then, it has grown bigger with some NCAA teams and NBA clothing.

While she had completed the 2020 NFL line a year ago, the second collection was recently released with teams having up to 23 new garments to be rolled out throughout the season.

Chargers fans are sure to find items they’ll love, including plaid shirts, crew-neck sweatshirts, and even leggings.

“By the way, I love our business with the Chargers,” Andrews said. “It’s one of the nicest colors to put in your wardrobe… It’s something that’s not daring, it’s very subtle. We do a lot of color over color, so it’s like a t-shirt or bomber jacket to wear to work and people are like, “Oh that’s so cute, these are the colors of the Chargers! There is the logo but it is mixed with the color so this is It’s not something that looks like a sacred cow, I’m a Chargers fan! ”“

The line was inspired by Andrews’ own wardrobe with items she wears daily that women could easily fit into not only on game days, but into their weekly wardrobe as well.

Rob Lowe crowns NFL hat saga with new Super Bowl cover

It all started with a “swag bag”.

Rob lowe received an NFL gift package ahead of the NFC Championship game at Levi Stadium on January 19. Lowe is a television and movie star, of course, and co-star of the new “9-1-1-: Lone Star” drama on Fox, the network which also aired the 49ers-Packers NFC title game. The show aired on the network just after the 49ers’ 37-20 victory.

Lowe, who makes the front page of Planet Hollywood Criss Angell Theater on February 15, was at the stadium mainly to promote its show on national television. He was shown on the show wearing an NFL-branded non-binding baseball cap in a sea of 49ers caps (and a smaller sea, or puddles, of Packer hats).

A Twitter barrage ensued as a Tweet from Lowe’s hat went viral. Barstool Sports led the cacophony with: “Some people cheer on a team. Rob Lowe encourages the Shield.

Lowe re-tweeted with, “I didn’t expect my hat to be the most interesting part of this game!” He also posted his own screenshot, commenting: “I love football LITERALLY! And teams. Each of them! They are all wonderful! Go teams! – Chris Traeger. “

Traeger is Lowe’s sunny, eternally optimistic, and physically fit character from “Parks & Recreation”.

Lowe did not walk into Levi Stadium with the NFL cap on.

“They give me this bag of hats, and all of the hats were exactly the same,” Lowe said in a phone conversation this week. “There was no Niners hat, there was no Green Bay hat, there was THAT hat. And I thought it was drugs! That hat was badass! I had never seen this hat before.

“I said, ‘I’m down with this hat on. It’s bipartisan. You can not lose.

But the social media community took hold of the snaps of Lowe wearing the NFL corporate cap.

“Next thing I know, I’m the meme of all memes,” said Lowe, who is officially a huge Indianapolis Colts fan. “That’s why I love the Internet. People are so hilarious about it. It made my night.

Lowe says he’s working on a “follow-up hat” for Sunday’s Super Bowl LIV in Miami. What it is about?

“I can’t share it, it will ruin it,” Lowe said. “I’m trying to put it together. If it comes out well, I will have a nice tribute.

Precise to say that this hat will also be bipartite?

“Maybe,” Lowe said with a laugh. “That’s all I’m saying.”

Rob Lowe explains the NFL hat that inspired a meme

Rob Lowe has a great sense of timing whether or not he’s on camera.

The Parks and recreation an alum inspired a meme earlier this month when he attended the professional football NFC championship game, featuring the San Francisco 49ers and Green Bay Packers, waving a hat to support … nor the neither. His hat touted the NFL.

“It was the best thing I ever did choosing this hat,” Lowe told Yahoo Entertainment. “First of all, I love the hat. It’s simple, I love this logo, it’s cool. Frankly, I had never seen a hat like this before. I didn’t even know you could get an NFL shield hat. So I was like “Oh, he’s a tough guy, I’m going to wear this”, and then it had the added benefit of not pissing anyone off. [division] in the stands, because I didn’t really have a dog in this fight.

Lowe is a fan of the Indianapolis Colts, who had previously been knocked out of the Super Bowl.

By a happy coincidence, Lowe’s fashion choice made him the topic of internet conversation the very day of his show. 9-1-1: The Lone Star created on Fox, just after the game, for impressive notes.

“That’s what I love about the internet, is that people were so hilarious about it,” Lowe says with a laugh. “I mean, I always scroll through all the comments, because each one is more hilarious than the next.”

The actor said if the camera lens fell on him during the next big game, Super Bowl LIV, as he watched from the stands, people would love what they saw just as much. He also revealed his thoughts on which team will take the win.

“The San Francisco defense looks so good and they had two weeks to plan the game, to stop a guy and that’s [Kansas City Chiefs quarterback] Patrick Mahomes, who is a genius, ”says Lowe. “So I’m betting on San Francisco, but the good news is I love Mahomes, so I’m good anyway, but my hat’s going to be [on] a whole new level, I think.

This weekend, Lowe is hoping the hashtag #SkinInTheGame will grab some attention as well. Profile, the company behind its Cobalt line of skin and men’s care products will donate $ 1 to the Wounded Warrior Project, up to $ 25,000 in total, whenever someone posts a photo of them watching the game, using the hashtag and tag @CobaltByRobLowe, on social networks. A winner will also receive two tickets to one of Lowe’s shows and meet them backstage.

Lowe’s interest in the sport also extends to the NBA, and he has lived in Southern California for decades. So the death of Los Angeles Lakers legend Kobe Bryant on Sunday was heartbreaking for him, as it was for many celebrities and non-celebrities.

“I have met Kobe several times. I was a fan of him. It turned out he was a fan of Brothers and sisters, a show I did years ago, and he and Vanessa watched it every Sunday, he told me, ”Lowe says. “I’m a fan of him as a player, as a guy who thought beyond the basketball world, a guy who was probably almost getting almost more interesting and successful off the court than he was on the court. I mean, the guy has already won an Oscar. So he did such great things, he had such a beautiful family.

Lowe notes that Bryant was particularly beloved in Laker country.

“You can’t overstate what he meant for Los Angeles, especially for people of a certain age,” he says. “My boys are huge Kobe fans, and this is the first time they’ve ever faced loss in their lives. And so I saw my young children in their twenties devastated and learning this great lesson that tomorrow is not guaranteed to anyone, and we have to go out and live and love as if there is no tomorrow, because there may not be. “

LA Rams’ new DC defense Brandon Staley baffled McVay, so he hired him – Ramblin fan

When it comes to The LA Rams’ choice to hire a new defensive coordinator, the old adage comes to mind: “If you can’t beat them, join them.” But in the case of hiring Denver Broncos OLB coach Brandon Staley, it’s more about “If you can’t beat them, hire them.” And that is what he did. So far we’ve discussed the what, so let’s now focus on the impact of the decision and what we think it will mean for the LA Rams defense.

2020 LA Rams UDFAs May Mean Future Impact Players – Ramblin fan

The LA Rams are trying to find the best players in the 2020 NFL Draft, although they only have six screened picks and no picks on day one. But not all NFL stars are selected on day one of the NFL Draft. In fact, some stars are not selected in an NFL draft at all.

The Los Angeles Rams had no Dante Fowler Jr. for half a season (plus the playoffs) in 2018 before deciding to grant him a one-year extension worth up to $ 14 million. It was a big bet on a player who hadn’t shown the ability to produce consistently as a passer, but paid off for Los Angeles.

LA Rams S Eric Weddle recovers on track, as role diminished – Ramblin fan

LA Rams signed free agent veteran safety Eric Weddle to a two-year contract worth $ 10.5 million in 2019. The Green Bay Packers intended to play “nice and cowardly” when they stepped onto the pitch at Levi’s Stadium to face the San Francisco 49ers in the NFC Championship game, but perhaps they were too relaxed. It took more than half the football to Aaron Rodgers to go, but in the end, the 49ers forced him to make too many mistakes, the last one going out of business in their 2019 season.

Rob Lowe went completely to Chris Traeger on his NFL Niners-Packers hat

The San Francisco 49ers didn’t exactly play the most aesthetically pleasing football when they won the NFC Championship game against the Green Bay Packers. The Niners played a stingy defense and punched the Packer defense in the mouth with a rushed attack led by a record breaking afternoon from Raheem Mostert, and as a result, San Francisco took a 37-20 win and hit his ticket. for the Super Bowl against the Kansas City Chiefs.

Because the Niners controlled the game from start to finish with a ground and pound attack, their ability to dominate Green Bay felt like a walk in the park for long stretches. That’s part of the reason the internet was so in love with Rob Lowe, who attended the game, wearing lots of black and a hat with the NFL logo on it. His brief appearance on screen gave us our latest example of people online making a ton of jokes at the expense of someone who was televised at a sporting event.

Lowe decided to use his Twitter account for fun. He too made a joke about it all, but made sure to do so by making it clear how Chris Traeger, his energetic character from Parks and recreation, would see it all.

This is of course not the first time that Chris Traeger has been in football, as he is close to Colts owner Jim Irsay through their volunteer time as mentors for Indianapolis teens. I’m still not sure why these teens preferred to go to Colts games and get signed jerseys rather than State House tours.
