No one told Nakobe Dean he replaced the wrong team after Georgia won the national championship?
The star linebacker wore an Alabama hat after he and the Bulldogs beat the Crimson Tide 33-18 on Monday night. Viral photos and videos show Dean wearing a hat with the letter “A” in place of the Bulldogs’ “G”.
Dean didn’t seem to notice, and he wasn’t fazed by the misstep as he celebrated on the confetti-covered pitch at Lucas Oil Stadium in Indianapolis.
The 21-year-old netted four tackles in the victory, which marked Georgia’s first national title since 1980.
Dean later arrived at a post-match press conference in a Georgian hat, and recognized that he was wearing the right cap.
Fans feasted on the viral moment, with many viewers call wardrobe malfunction on Twitter. Some critics have questioned who put on the wrong hat after Georgia’s historic victory.
Dean – who won the 2021 Butkus Award, awarded to the nation’s top linebacker – ended his junior year with 168 total tackles and 7.5 sacks. He also won All-SEC first-team honors in 2021.
It remains to be seen whether Dean returns to Georgia for his final year or declares himself for the 2022 NFL Draft.
