NFL Week 1 was a big milestone for several former Alabama players to shine at the start of the 2021 season.
But for two of his former quarterbacks Mac Jones and Jalen Hurts, it was an opportunity to put the rest of the league on guard. Both quarterbacks landed their starting positions at training camp and proved worthy of their opportunities.
Jones, who faced the Miami Dolphins, completed 29 of 39 attempts for 281 yards and one touchdown in the Patriots’ 17-16 loss.
Hurts led the Falcons completing 27 of 35 attempts for 264 yards and three touchdowns while rushing for a total of 62 yards on seven attempts.
Both performances thrilled the fan bases of both franchises like Hurts and Jones. Jersey sales soared to the top of the list ahead of week two. Hurts ‘green jersey ranked number one with Jones’ just behind at number two according to Fanatics.
Both Crimson Tide products will look to strengthen their impact in the league this Sunday as Hurts look to continue their success against the San Francisco 49ers while Jones look to place the Patriots in the winning column against the New York Jets.
