Rangers were keen to sign Crysencio Summerville from Leeds United in January and they will surely be interested in his hat-trick on Monday night.

The Gersois were looking for a new winger during the January transfer window.

In the end, Rangers managed to land Manchester United talent Amad Diallo in a deal that didn’t quite work out as hoped.

Diallo was not the only name on the list, as the Daily Mail reported that Rangers were also keen to sign Summerville from Leeds.

Rangers boss Giovanni van Bronckhorst worked with Summerville at Feyenoord and apparently saw enough in him to aim for a reunion.

With Diallo only on loan at Rangers until the summer, perhaps Summerville will be back on Gers’ radar in the coming months.

You could hardly blame Summerville for wanting to get away from Leeds; he’s still not really considered a first-team player after two years at Elland Road.

The 20-year-old is still playing U23 football and has once again shown he needs to play at a higher level.

After scoring a hat-trick against Liverpool Under-23s in February, Summerville scored another hat-trick on Monday.

Crystal Palace and Summerville, hosts Leeds Under-23, scored a stunning hat-trick in a 4-0 thrashing, with Stuart McKinstry also on the scoresheet.

Quick and skilful, Summerville is the kind of winger who can put fans on the edge of their seat.

If Rangers can offer first-team football, Summerville would surely prefer that kind of challenge to playing over and over again in Leeds Under-23s.

With Daniel James, Jack Harrison and Raphinha all in the first-team picture, it’s hard to see how far Summerville is going to get anytime soon.

After excelling on Monday night, Rangers might be wise to return to Summerville this summer and offer him some first-team action at Ibrox.
