I-League: a hat-trick from Majcen brings down Delhi; Kerala back on top | Soccer News

KOLKATA: Slovenian striker Luka Majcen toyed with the Suveda Delhi FC defence, scoring a hat-trick as Gokulam Kerala climbed back to the top of the I-League table with a crushing 4-0 win at Kalyani Stadium on Friday.
This victory allowed the Malabarians to take a two-point lead over Mohammedan Sporting (25) in the 13-team standings.
Majcen opened his account in the 17th minute with Jihin MS setting him up with a penetrating cross to put Gokulam Kerala ahead.
Thahir Zaman then doubled Gokulam Kerala’s lead in the 27th minute when he picked up a sublime pass from the left and put his left foot on the ball to send it into the net.
Delhi FC goalkeeper Sachin Jha suffered from a series of attacking moves, particularly from Jithin who looked threatening in attack.
Majcen’s quick runs through the cross troubled Sudeva’s defense in the second half as he found the target again in the 60th minute from an Ahmed Razeek cross.
Jha was out of place and seeing the chance, Majcen took the opportunity to score his hat trick in the 86th minute.
In Naihati, Brijesh Giri’s 88th-minute goal earned the Indian Arrows their second victory of the season as they beat Kenkre FC 1-0 – the ninth loss for the Mumbai side, who are yet to open their account.
Indian Arrows now have nine points from 11 matches.
