Celtic recorded all three points with a comprehensive 4-0 win over Vale of Leithen at Penny Cars Stadium, Airdrie. Tommy McIntyre had goals that Ben Summers and Joey Dawson had to thank for the impressive win as Karamoko Dembele returned from injury.
Joey Dawson made it 1-0 after the striker made a run towards the near post and managed to make contact on a low cross, which worked its way into the net. The former Scunthorpe striker, who made his debut last year, showed good predatory instincts to pounce and put the young Celts ahead.
Adam Brooks missed the shot after Owen Moffat was fouled in the box meaning it was 1-0 up at the break. In the second half, Summers crashed from close range into the box to make it 2-0. He was in a perfect position after a Dawson shot/cross was parried at his feet by the goalie. Summers scored his hat trick soon after, taking a ball from Dawson and sending the ball into the bottom corner at the near post of the keeper.
An impressive victory for Celtic, even in the highlights provided they looked lively and played the kind of football Ange Postecoglou expects from his teams. This bodes well for any youngster with first-team aspirations that they know and understand the type of football the Aussie wants to play.
