Exeter City Football Club top the Fan Engagement Index for the 2020/2021 season – for the third year running.
The index, which is produced by Think Fan Engagement, uses publicly available data to measure clubs across all football leagues on their engagement with fans, governance and transparency.
Nick Hawker, chairman of the Exeter City Supporters’ Trust, welcomed the news: “We are really delighted to win again. A lot of people have put a lot of effort into engaging with our supporters, from the manager, the media team (of course) and the club and trust boards.
“We’re owned by supporters and I think after 20+ years it comes naturally. Of course you can always do more and so we’re looking to build and change things a bit all the time. Which is especially enjoyable is that we are demonstrating that you can belong to supporters, engage meaningfully with our supporters and be successful.
Kevin Rye, owner of Think Fan Engagement, said: “Congratulations on Exeter City’s treble in the Fan Engagement Index. It’s clear from talking to Nick Hawker, Clive Harrison, the staff I know at the club and the supporters that it’s simply the way they do business, and that’s exactly how it should be. to be.
“Good fan engagement is part of the way every club should be, and I urge anyone who wants to know how to do it, to get in touch with them and ask for their advice, whether or not they belong to fans. .
“Exeter City continue to do well. It’s not just ingrained in ownership, but in culture and attitude. This applies to most top performing clubs. But we must not be complacent: if we do not take care of culture, it dies, and a structure alone is not enough.
