Class of 2022 prepares for graduation

Vashon seniors and their families are expected to celebrate graduation over the next few days.

Vashon graduate seniors and their families are expected to celebrate over the next few days, with ceremonies and a community parade scheduled.

Student Link and Family Link will host graduation at 4 p.m. on Thursday, June 9, with details to be sent to families in an email from the district.

The District Class of 2022 Car Parade will take place from 1-2 p.m. on Saturday, June 11, rain or shine, lining up at 12:15 p.m. in the Harbor School parking lot.

The procession will be led by a school bus, starting at 12:50 p.m. sharp, heading south and crossing the city around 1:00 p.m. Students will slowly walk past the Voice of Vashon stage in the center of town to have their names read out. Other friends and family members can stand along the parade route to support seniors. This event will be both recorded and broadcast live on VOV FM 101.9 radio and television.

The parade will end at Vashon Island Coffee Roasterie, where participants will depart for their own destinations.

Vashon High School’s commencement ceremony will take place from 6-8 p.m. on Saturday, June 11. The graduation will take place outdoors in the football stadium, rain or shine, and there are no guest or ticket limits this year. In the unlikely event that the ceremony is moved indoors, each graduate will be limited to six guests. Families with reduced mobility should email [email protected] for accommodations.

The stadium will open at 5:30 p.m., seats are allocated on a first-come, first-served basis.
