Blessing’s double hat-tricks take Gallant Queens to final


Blessing Saleh scored two hat-tricks as Gallant Queens FC shut out Wisdom Queens FC 10-0 to advance to the Croc City 5-Aside Football for Peace Tournament Final at Murtala Muhammed Square, Kaduna.

The hosts, Kaduna Queens FC Team A also beat YSFON Queens FC 4-2 on penalties after going 1-1 in regulation time to book a place in the final of the tournament in its second edition.

Both semi-finals were played on the new synthetic futsal pitch at Murtala Muhammed Square, Kaduna.

Gallant Queens dominated a one-sided affair against Wisdom Queens, with tournament top scorer Blessing Saleh scoring two hat-tricks to take her tally to 13 goals.

Maestro of midfield and ex-international, Charity Ifenkoh controlled midfield with delectable skill and tactical acumen, as rock-solid Loveth Dikko shielded Tolani Adeniyi and later Shade Adebowale in the Gallant Queens goal .

Blessing opened the scoring in the second minute and never looked back as she rallied to a glut of first-half goals, with Blessing Dabrinze rounding the scores to leave it at 6-0 after the first half time.

Blessing opened the scoring in the second half to complete their six-goal rout with Rosemary Nwachukwu, Agnes Otata and the team’s engine room, with Charity Ifenkoh scoring the team’s 10th and final goal of the game.

The second semi-final, a tough encounter in the derby, saw YSFON Queens open the scoring in the 18th minute as former Falconets star Ramat AbdulKareem netted a free kick beyond the goalkeeper in the first post. His goal was sandwiched by clear chances missed by Kaduna Queens when Ruth John’s shot was saved by the keeper, while Mercy Shimaior missed a free header.

Kaduna Queens however equalized after some good teamwork as Queen Akinfolaju delivered a masterful pass for Kate Ezekiel who netted the goal.

The ensuing penalty saw Kaduna Queen miss their fourth kick, while YSFON Queens miss their second and fourth kicks.
